Lamp Revamp

The Challenge:
My neighbor, Lindsay and I went garage saleing a few weeks ago. We both found these ugly worn out Hawaiian inspired lamps, with no shades but had potential. They were sold because they were $1 each. We both took one of the ugly matching lamps and took it as a challenge to the other. We wanted to see each other take on this lamp. So our mission was to revamp our matching lamps into something worth putting in our home.  To the right you can see what the lamp looked like before-hard to see the potential?

This was my take on it:
All I did was spray paint the base of the lamp with a nickel finish paint, add leftover lace around the lamp shade and added a little rosette. Whenever I get a new white desk, this is the lamp I want to put on it! The style of the lamp once was "scratchy hawaiian" and now it is "shabby chic."

Lindsay's take on it:
Lindsay's goal was to make her lamp versatile through her house. She didn't know exactly where she wanted to finally settle the lamp. She has really warm colors in her house, variety of browns, green, oranges and even teal. Her lamp turned out beautiful she found a perfect burlap covered lamp shade, with a very modern shape. She painted the base of the lamp a very cool metallic brown that had a hammer finish. The lamp really looks great in her place.
